The 1857 Memorial Museum, designed to present a visual accounts of the freedom struggle of 1857, consists a model of the Residency, old photographs, lithographs, paintings, documents, period objects such as guns, swords, shields, musketing cannons, rank badges, medals and other items.

The State Museum in Lucknow was earlier situated in the Chattar Manzil and the Lai Baradari. It was shifted during the year 1963 to the new building in Lucknow Zoo. Initially, there was a collection of Awadh arts and contemporary objects of Awadh.

Heritage

The British Residency of Lucknow is a famous historical landmark of this place. It is now in ruins and has been declared a protected monument by the Archaeological Survey of India.

Bara Imambara is an imambara complex in Lucknow, India, built by Asaf-ud-Daula, Nawab of Awadh, in 1784. It is also called the Asafi Imambara. Bara means big, and an imambara is a shrine built by Shia Muslims for the purpose of Azadari.

The Rumi Darwaza, in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, India, is an imposing gateway which was built under the patronage of Nawab Asaf-Ud-dowlah in 1784. It is an example of Awadhi architecture.
